(226 words) Svetlana is the main character of the ballad of the same name Zhukovsky. This is a bright image, because it included all the traditional qualities of a Russian girl: kindness, meekness and devotion. She is sweet, but shy, smart, but silent. In it, the author sees an unspoiled ideal that helps to cultivate faith in God in oneself. Therefore, the poet shows how superstition is harmful to a Christian.
The heroine is waiting for the groom and yearns for him: "Silent and sweet dear Svetlana is silent and sad." When friends persuade the girl to fortune, she admits that the chosen one has disappeared for a year and does not write to her. At the same time, she demonstrates her devotion to him, even though they are apart: “They only have a red light,” she says. The bride’s heart is full of anxiety, but she humbly accepts her fate. However, she nevertheless went on about her friends. She wonders at night. The author condemns this statement, because true faith should not allow superstition in the form of fortune-telling. In addition, Svetlana doubted her lover, since she wanted to know the future. Hesitation led the beauty to a terrible vision, as if her dear friend had died. In a dream, she still shows prudence when she prays and tries to find protection from God. He heeded her repentance and sent down the dove, which saved the girl from the dead.
In the final scene, we see that the heroine found the strength to resist magic thanks to her sincere faith and the realization of her mistake. Hence, she is strong in spirit and virtuous. The light of her soul conquered the darkness of evil forces and dispelled the spell. Therefore, Zhukovsky predicts her family happiness.
