(364 words) Poem N.V. Gogol's "Dead Souls" is one of the most striking satirical works of the 19th century. It was created by the author in order to tell the reader about the depravity, insignificance of the landlords and the weaknesses and shortcomings of man.
All the landowners are depicted by the writer in great detail, and the description of the interior of their houses has characteristic features and distinctive features.
Manilov’s estate is a building located on a hill. The interior of his rooms is quite beautiful: "furniture covered with dandy stuff." This detail seems to hint at the wealth of the owner, who is at the same time lazy. This shortcoming interferes with Manilov, because because of him the landowner does not want to change the arrangement of his home (despite the chic elements of decoration, there’s always something missing).
Manilov’s office is beautiful, but the book with a bookmark on the fourteenth page, which he has been reading for two years now, makes us think about the sluggishness and endless idleness of its owner.
The box, in turn, is committed to the household. The interior of the rooms in her house almost does not stand out, but colorful paintings, antique clocks, old wallpapers, stockings, etc. draw attention to themselves. A woman rationally uses things to extend their service life, everywhere stores money in variegated bags, which indicates her tendency to accumulate property.
Nozdrev’s office has expensive weapons, but no books and papers, which indicates that he is almost not involved in the affairs of his household. Dirt and debris in the dining room do not bother the landowner; he does not make sure that the servants clean the room.
Sobakevich’s house is filled with heavy, massive interior elements. The hero himself is quite large in build, so even the furniture matches him. Huge paintings, "pot-bellied walnut bureau" - everything seems to say that it looks like Sobakevich. Even the thrush, which he holds at home, and he somehow resembles the owner.
The interior of Plyushkin’s rooms is also designed to complement the description of the image of its owner. Everywhere a bunch of things, old broken furniture, paintings. Excess junk accumulates dust that no one has been cleaning for a very long time. Plyushkin does not want to part with things, because he is stingy and excessively economical.
It is worth noting that many of the landowners do not care about their peasants, some do not care even about the devastation and disorder in their own estate, what can we say about improving the future of Russia.
Thus, depicting the main characters and the interior of their houses, Gogol illustrated the base needs of the landowners, whose souls became impoverished and turned into dust.
