In the capital city of Kiev, the Grand Duke Vladimir feast. At the feast, princes, boyars and mighty heroes. Suddenly a hundred fellows appeared, followed by another hundred, and behind those, and another hundred. All of them are beaten, wounded, lush heads tied with sash. The beaten fellows beat the prince with a brow. They drove along the river Cherege on the sovereign's loan and did not meet any beast or migratory birds there, but they met great fellows in numbers of three hundred and five hundred. The stallions under these fellows are Latin, caftans are Kamchatka; they caught all sables and martens, foxes were taken away, rounds and deer were shot, and they themselves were beaten and wounded. Therefore, the princely fellows back to the prince appeared without prey. Now, from the prince, he will not be paid; their children and wives will have to wander around the world as orphans.
Prince Vladimir does not listen to petitioners, continues to rule his feast. There is another crowd of fellows in numbers of three hundred and five hundred, fishing hunters. All are also beaten-wounded, their heads are broken, their sashes are bandaged. And they complain that they didn’t find any fish on the rivers and lakes: strangers did all the fish, and the sovereign hunters didn’t get any fish, and there would be no salary from the prince. And these petitioners are not listening to Prince Vladimir.
Before the fishermen had time to leave the prince’s court, two more crowds fell into the courtyard: well-behaved falconers and well-wishers, all were beaten-wounded, their heads were pierced, and they were tied with sashes. And these fellows tell how they hunted in princely possessions, but did not meet either falcons or gyrfalcons, but a thousand fellows met the fellows. Well done, all these falcons and gyrfalcons were taken out, the princely falconers and gyrebirds were beaten and wounded, and they are called Churilova’s squad. Then Prince Vladimir asks: “Who is this Churila?” The old governor Bermyat replies: Churil lives lower than the small Kievts, his yard is seven miles away, and is decorated like this: “the first gate is slammed, the other gate is crystal, the third gate is pewter”.
Hearing this, Prince Vladimir hastily equips himself on the road to Churila, taking with him the princes, boyars and powerful heroes - Dobrynya Nikitich and Vermyat Vasilyevich. Five of them gathered, and they went to Churila Plenkovich. At the gate they are met by the old Film: the grand prince and the princess open the gates, the princes and the boyars - crystal gates, for ordinary people - tin gates. Old Aleksey Surozhenin leads the prince and princess to the table, puts him in places of honor, begins to regale all guests. Suddenly, the prince, looking out the window, sees a lot of people and is worried: it is obvious that the formidable ambassador from the Horde is coming to him, and the prince is not at home. The old Plenka, smiling, replies: this is not a formidable ambassador from the Horde, but the squad of young Churila Plenkovich.
Churila drove up to his yard, but he could not enter the yard. Then he left the squad in the roundabout courtyard, he went down to the cellars, took the furs, brocade, gold treasury there, brought everything to Prince Vladimir, put it on the table that was cleaned. The prince was delighted, began to call Churila Plenkovich to his place in Kiev for imperial service. Churila of the prince did not disobey, ordered to saddle his horse and galloped along with the prince to Kiev.
In Kiev, Prince Vladimir sends Churil Plenkovich to collect ten rubles from all the princes and boyars. Churila went around everyone and summoned the prince to a feast, and in the courtyard of old Bermyaty Vasilyevich hesitated: he engaged in a conversation with his young wife Katerina. All the princes, boyars and heroes sat at a feast until late, and as early as the morning went to the matins - they saw fresh footprints in the snow, they were surprised: "either the hare rode or the ermine beast." And others grinned: it was not a hare that rode and not an ermine beast, but Churila Plenkovich walked here to old Bermyat Vasilyevich, to his young wife Katerina.
In another epic, it is told about the death of Churila. Love for Katerina Mikulichna did not bring him to good. He came to her on the very day of the Annunciation, when Bermyat Vasilievich was in the church. I saw Churila and Katerina, a little black-headed girl, went to the owner in the church and told everything. Bermyata Vasilievich returned home, Churile cut off his head with a saber, and Katerina Mikulichna threw herself on sharp knives with her breast. And the old Bermyat Vasilyevich waited for the Resurrection of Christ and married with a little girl.
